IEC 60309 (CEEform/Commando) Adaptor Cables & PDU Whips
The IEC 60309 standard describes a variety of plugs, sockets, and coupling devices designed for industrial purposes. These connectors also have an integrated locking system to minimise accidental disruptions and two different levels of water ingress protection. The most common IEC 60309 cables in Australia & New Zealand are Blue [2P+E] 220-240V & Red [3P++N+E] 400V. They have the ‘Earth’ pin at the “6 o’clock” position or ‘6H’.
IP67 rated connectors are the most common in Australia, but many international equipment manufactures supply their ITC hardware with IP44 rated connectors. They are interchangeable mechanically.
Racklink can manufacture custom IEC 60309 adaptor cables / PDU Whip's on request to suit different requirements. Browse our fit-for-purpose products below, or get in touch for a custom IEC 60309 solution.
IEC Cables & Connectors
IEC 60309 refers to cables and connectors that are designed to meet the standard set by the International Electrotechnical Commission.
In Australia, IEC cables are used commonly in industrial settings alongside captive/Clipsal connectors to power equipment and other systems. The difference between IEC cables and captive cables is that the latter are built to meet Australian standards, while the former are usually required for compatibility with equipment that has been imported from overseas.
IEC cables feature a locking mechanism at connection ports — this is designed to hold connections together and prevent any accidental disconnections. Additionally, IEC cables come with either IP44 (splashproof) or IP67 (waterproof) water ingress ratings to avoid the risk of short circuits from liquid spills. This water resistance is only applicable when the connectors are in the locked position.
